DESIGNERS Mark Badgley and James Mischka have bought back the rights to their label from former owners Iconix Brand Group for $16 million in cash. The
deal - which is a joint venture with footwear licensee Titan Industries Inc and apparel licensee MJCLK LLC - will see them take charge of the brand they founded 27 years ago for the first time in over a decade.

"We have had a productive 11 years working with the Iconix team to buildBadgley Mischka from its red-carpet origins to a full lifestyle luxury brand," Badgley told WWD, while his co-founder and partner added: "It's really been our quest to own the brand again and control all the nuances that go into a business today. We missed a lot of those things and making certain decisions."
The twosome - who met and founded the label in the late Eighties after meeting at Parsons School of Design in New York - made their name as red-carpet specialists, creating show-stopping gowns for stars including Sarah Jessica Parker, Jennifer Lopez, Madonna, Kate Winslet and Julia Roberts through the years.
